The Unhurried
Restoration of
Period Houses.
A restoration and design practice for the stucco houses of Holland Park and prime central London. We keep what a house should keep, and remake the rest to live the way you do now.

Arrange a Consultation
No charge and no obligation. A conversation, and a visit to the house when the time is right.

A house in Holland Park is rarely a blank site. It is stucco and sash, cornice and consent, a listed fabric inside one of the strictest boroughs in the country. We work the way that asks us to: patient with the parts worth keeping, exact with the parts that are new, and fluent with the borough that has to approve both.
Disciplines
A Schedule of Works
One practice across the whole commission, so the survey, the consent and the build are never handed between strangers.
Consent and conservation
Most of the Difficulty Here Is Not the Building. It Is the Permission to Touch It.
The houses of Holland Park sit almost entirely within conservation areas, and a great many are listed. We work inside that framework every week, which is the difference between a scheme that is approved and one that is quietly returned.
- Listed Building Consent
- For alterations to a house that carries a statutory listing.
- Conservation Area
- Where the character of the street, not only the house, is protected.
- Party Wall Awards
- The agreements that keep a shared wall, and a neighbour, on side.
- Construction Method
- The engineer's statement a basement scheme must satisfy before RBKC will grant it.

Recent Commissions
A small practice takes on few houses at a time. These are representative of the work and the standard we hold to.
Approach
From Survey to Handover
Five stages, one team, one programme. You always know where the house is and what happens next.
- I
Survey
We measure the house as it stands and set out the constraints, the opportunities and an honest view of what the fabric will allow.
- II
Design
Drawings and specification are developed with our architects and, where you wish, your own, until the scheme is settled and costed.
- III
Consent
Planning and listed building applications are prepared and carried through the borough on your behalf.
- IV
Build
A single team holds the site from strip-out to snagging, with one point of contact and a fixed programme throughout.
- V
Handover
The house is returned finished, cleaned and documented, with the guarantees and maintenance guidance you will need for years to come.

Every commission begins with a conversation and, when the time is right, a visit. There is no charge for either, and no obligation beyond seeing whether we are the right practice for your house.
